DOCTORAL RESEARCH GRANTS
Doctorate candidates from any country enrolled in a reputable university in the United Arab Emirates or elsewhere are eligible to apply for the Doctoral Research Grants.
Prominent university graduate analysts now have the chance to use the Doctoral Research Grants to realize their potential in novel applied research. Furthermore, the awards foster high-caliber research and strengthen the region’s capacity for analysis while fostering cross-cultural interaction and collaboration between internationally renowned universities and national institutions in the United Arab Emirates.
Eligibility and General Requirements
The Doctoral Research Grant Program is open to every CEU doctoral student who has passed the comprehensive exam. Pre-comprehensive students (normally first-year students) may not submit an application.
- According to CEU doctorate criteria, a study abroad program lasting up to six months can be a part of a doctoral program. Department to department may have different limits, especially if the PhD program receives outside funding. The department/program director may decide to enforce the fulfillment of the program’s residence requirements in addition to this.
- Applicants must show how the suggested research or study relates to their thesis. The department/program head’s support and the written recommendation of the applicant’s CEU doctoral supervisor are prerequisites.
- Students must have been granted financial assistance (such as a waiver of their tuition fees) for the duration of their research after being accepted as “special” or “non-degree” students into a university or research institute. The DRSG does not pay for the tuition fee. The needed tuition fee for the host university, if any, must be indicated on the budget form and subtracted from the total amount sought. In these situations, the student is required to pay the fee. The CEU award is intended to be supplemental and mostly pays for lodging and transportation expenses.
- Each student is only eligible to earn this award once while enrolled in classes at CEU; it is not competitive. Nonetheless, the amount granted will be determined by reasonable expenses and financial constraints.
- Up to 5,000 EUR may be applied for by students. The grant’s actual value will differ. The committee will evaluate each proposal on its own merits, considering factors such as the suitability of the budget, the quality of the cost documentation, the organization of the work schedule, and the trip’s relevance to the student’s PhD dissertation.
- For any major expenses indicated on the budget form (housing, transportation pass, airfare/train tickets, visa fees, etc.), the student must provide receipts. (The student’s name alone should appear on all invoices, receipts, etc.).
- The student must send in a letter from the host supervisor verifying that they attended and finished the research when they get back. You have to turn this in to the Financial Aid Office.
Application Process
Before applying, please review the grant handbook, as it contains important information for applicants and recipients.
